How data affects map render performance
No two data sets are the same and each will have a different impact on map rendering performance. Whilst in general larger data sets can take more time to render, there are other aspects of data that also have an effect:
- The number of records in a table that are visible and within the map view.
- The complexity of the map features (a simple building outline with four nodes will render quicker than a river flood boundary with 100,000 nodes).
- The projection of the data (data that needs to be re-projected to align with base mapping will take longer to render).
