Communications Suite

Communications Suite provides comprehensive location-based coverage of telecommunications and wireless systems.

For reference, see the Communications Suite Product Guide. You can download the document in PDF format from here: Communications Suite Product Guide.

The Communications Suite comprises of the following:
  • AreaCodeInfo:

AreaCodeInfo is a map database of area code boundaries for the United States and Canada. As many as four area codes could be active at a given location. This dataset provides all active area codes for a given location. If there are fewer than four active area code, for a location, the remaining columns will be blank.

  • CarrierInfo

CarrierInfo is a macro view of the communications landscape, showing the serving area region of every telecommunications operating company. The product includes a high-level parent company view of Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC) service areas, as well as a medium-level, operating company number (OCN) view of the ILEC service areas. This dataset provides information about the ILEC that serves a given location. The information includes the parent company name, the operating company name and an abbreviated operating company name.

  • ExchangeInfo Plus

ExchangeInfo Plus is a map database of wire center boundaries and central office points. The central office points are where the switching equipment is physically located. The wire center boundaries show the area served by each central office building. This dataset provides the 8-character CLLI code of the serving wire center for a given location. This data set also provides location information for the central office building serving a given location, as well as the distance from the given location to the central office building.

  • LATAInfo

LATAInfo is a map database of Local Access Transport Areas (LATAs) boundaries. The LATA boundaries determine when a call can be carried by a Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) or must be carried by a long distance service. This dataset provides the number and name of the LATA as well as the names of the major carriers serving the location. This data set also lists the area codes within the LATA.

  • PSAP Pro

PSAP Pro is a map database of Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) coverage areas in the United States. PSAP Pro provides the 10-digit operator number that is answered 24x7 by a dispatcher, and provides other contact information for each PSAP. This dataset provides the corresponding FCC PSAP ID for the PSAP serving a given location. This FCC ID is often needed when preparing reports on PSAP coverage for the FCC. This dataset also provide contact information for the PSAP serving a given location. This contact information is useful to telecommunications providers when they need to establish a connection with the serving PSAP for a given location.

  • AHJ Pro

AHJ Pro is a map database of Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) entities for PSAPs that require alarm companies to contact the AHJs directly, rather than just dial 9-1-1 on behalf of their clients. Where required by a PSAP, AHJ Pro provides the police, fire and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) contact information for use by alarm companies. Alarm companies can contact the correct authority based on the type of emergency being reported by their client. For areas where the PSAP does not require alarm companies to contact the AHJs directly, this dataset provides the PSAP contact information instead.

  • RateCenterInfo

RateCenterInfo is a map database of rate center serving areas and corresponding rate center points. Rate center points are used to calculate the cost of services between two rate centers and the rate center boundaries show the serving area of each rate center point. This dataset provides the state and rate center name which uniquely identifies a rate center. This dataset also provide an alternate name which is not abbreviated and is more descriptive of the area covered by the rate center. This dataset also provide the location information for the rate center point associated with the rate center boundary.
