WMTS Settings

Select Services > WMTS > Settings in Spatial Manager to view and edit the global settings for your Web Map Tile Service.

Note: The WMTS configuration file WMTSConfiguration is preconfigured and located in the Configuration directory under the root repository. For example, a default installation will place the WMTS configuration file at http://<server>:<port>/RepositoryService/repository/default/Configuration/WMTSConfiguration. Although you can use a WebDAV tool to copy the WMTS configuration file from the repository then upload the modified file, manual editing of this file should only be done by advanced users who require functionality that is not supported by the current version of Spatial Manager. Unexpected results may occur when using a manually edited configuration file with Spatial Manager.

Service Identification Settings

The service parameters define the base WMTS configuration.
Online resource / Service URL
The HTTP URL (user-accessible endpoint) for your WMTS service, formatted as http://server:port/rest/Spatial/WMTS. In most cases, it will be as defaulted by the installer, the hostname of your machine and the URL path (rest/Spatial/WMTS) and there is no need to change this. You need to change this URL only when
  • Using a proxy around your Spectrum Spatial server. The URL should be changed to point to your proxy.
  • A Spectrum Spatial load-balanced environment where the URL should point to your load balancer.
Title
The human-readable name of the WMTS service.
Abstract
A description of the WMTS service, such as what type of features or content your service provides. For example, it can include the version of Spectrum Spatial to use. This information can be used by GetCapabilities.

Cache Settings

By default the WMTS tile cache is not used. When the cache is enabled, the WMTS tile cache will save all requested tiles under the system folder that you specify (you must have access rights to this folder, as instructed in Creating a Named Resources Administrator). Using image caching strategies to serve pre-rendered, georeferenced map tiles helps provide a performance-oriented and scalable service to WMTS users.

The specified file path is used as the root of the cache and folders are created under it accordingly. The first level of folders directly under the root match the WMTS Identifier for each layer.
Note: If you change the WMTS Identifier for a layer then the old cache will not be used for that layer. In this case, consider renaming the folder to the new Identifier so that the cache will be used again.

Tiles are cached indefinitely until they are deleted. If you change the tiles (including data changes, resource changes, or style changes), the cached tiles will still be used. You must manually delete the cache from the file system in order clear out the outdated tiles and generate new tiles. Typically this mean deleting all tiles under a specific Identifier. Changing the specified file path for the cache does not move any cached tiles on the file system.
