The pbKey unique identifier

The pbKey is a unique identifier assigned to each physical addressable location within the Master Location Dataset. The pbKey is returned when a match is made to MLD. It is a 12-character (+1 null) field that has ‘P’ as the leading character, and is a persistent identifier for an address.
