Approval flow for an entity

The entity creation in Metadata Insights follows a defined approval flow. The approval flow specifies:
  • The levels of approval needed
  • Roles for the various approval levels
  • Days in which each approver in a specified level should revert with changes or approval
  1. On Management Console main menu, click Resources > Approval Flows.
    The Approval Flows page is displayed that shows the two categories of approval flows you can define.
  2. Click the check box for Metadata Insights.Business Glossary Entity, followed by the Edit icon. on the top left of the page.
    Note: You can also click the Metadata Insights.Business Glossary Entity link directly.
    The Edit Approval Flow page is displayed, that shows the Entity type as Metadata Insights.Business Glossary Entity.
  3. Click the Enable approval flow slider to Yes.
    This enables the flow you are going to define. This flow will be applicable to all the glossary that would be defined.
  4. Click the Approval Level button on the right side of the page above the table.
    A row is added to the table below.
  5. Enter these approval flow details:
    Field Description
    Level Defines the approval level.

    1 denotes the first level of approval; 2, Second level of approval; and 3, Third level of approval.

    Roles Select the role that will act as the approver for this level. For example, if the level is 1, the selected role will act as the fist level approver for all the glossary entities.
    Note: The roles displayed here are the ones the administrator has defined using the System > Security > Roles option.
    Days to Approve Select the days in which the approver has to approve or suggest edits to the entity
  6. To add another level of approval, click the Approval Level button again and follow step 5.
  7. Click Save.
    The approval flow is saved and shows on the Approval Flows page.
    Note: You can enable or disable a work flow from the Approval Flows page also. For that, use the Enabled slider on the page.
