Creating an Analyst Guest User

Creating a guest user requires a guest role with permissions set. You must be an admin to create a guest user.

  1. Open the Management Console.
  2. Go to System > Security.
  3. On the Users tab, click the click the user name to assign as a Spectrum Spatial™ Analyst guest.

To create a new user, click the Add button and enter the guest user name and password. For example, AnalystGuest for the user name and Password1 for the password.

  4. From the list of roles, select the Spectrum Spatial™ Analyst guest role. For example, AnalystGuestRole.

Ensure that only the guest role is assigned to the user and no other roles. You do not want this user to have additional permissions from other roles.

  5. Click Save.

You are now ready to enable guest access for a Spectrum Spatial™ Analyst installation by updating its shared.properties file with the guest user name and password, see Enabling Guest Access in Spectrum Spatial™ Analyst.

Note: Do not assign permissions to a user. Permissions inherit from the roles that a user is assigned. Spectrum Spatial™ Analyst only looks at role permissions when a user signs in and ignores any user-specific permissions.
