MI_GeometryType

Description

Returns a string indicating the type of a geometry object.

Syntax

MI_GeometryType ( geometry )

Arguments

geometry is an expression which returns a geometry.

Example

Returns the geometry type for the specified countries.

select MI_GeometryType([Geometry_Column]) as MI_GEOMETRYTYPE  from countries where country in ('Canada','Brazil','China')

Remarks

The value returned is one of the following (which is also found in the MapInfo.Geometry.GeometryType enumeration):

• Envelope
• Point
• MultiPoint
• MultiCurve
• MultiPolygon
• FeatureGeometryCollection
• Curve
• Ring
• Polygon
• LineString
• Rectangle
• RoundedRectangle
• Ellipse
• LegacyText
• LegacyArc
