Selecting a source
When you click the Create Rule button on the Discovery
Prepare dashboard, you are navigated to the Select Source page, which allows you to configure a source for your rule. It can be one of these:
- Flat File from your system.
- Connection configured in Spectrum Technology Platform. For details on configuring the connections, see Defining Connections.
Using Source Description field
The Enter source description field, by default, auto-populates
your chosen file name or the table name you select from the connection, but you can
also enter a description of your choice. The description you enter here appears in
the corresponding Source Desc. column on the dashboard. This field attaches
the matching and consolidation rules to the source configuration, which might help
you understand the associated rules attached to a particular table later. You can
select any one table at a time from the drop-down list to create the rules. By
entering the name of your choice, this field helps to easily identify the tables
associated with a connection type data source as the actual table names could be
confusing to understand.
Note: If the source has already been configured for a table,
an error is displayed, which helps you to go to the Source
Details page where it already exists. The Source
Details page lists all the rules for a particular source, where
you can switch between different table descriptions from the drop-down list to
view the associated rules. For more information, see Creating Rules.
