Spectrum Stewardship

Spectrum Stewardship provides a set of features that allow you to identify and resolve exception records. Exception records are records that Spectrum Technology Platform could not confidently process and that require manual review by a data steward. Some examples of exceptions are:
  • Address verification failures
  • Geocoding failures
  • Low-confidence matches
  • Merge/consolidation decisions

Spectrum Stewardship provides a browser-based tool for manually reviewing exception records. Once exception records are manually corrected and approved, you can add them back into your Spectrum Technology Platform data quality process.

The audit log shows many of the actions that take place within Spectrum Stewardship. The audit log is a Spectrum Management Console tool that records user activity. The log may include:
  • Adding exceptions in the Write Exceptions stage
  • Deleting exceptions in the Read Exceptions stage and the Spectrum Stewardship Manage Exceptions page
  • Assigning exceptions in the Spectrum Stewardship Exception Manager
  • Retrieving exceptions in the Spectrum Stewardship Editor
  • Updating exceptions in the Spectrum Stewardship Editor
  • Revalidating exceptions in the Spectrum Stewardship Editor

Read more about the audit log in the Spectrum Technology Platform Administration Guide for the WebUI.

Components

Spectrum Stewardship consists of the following components.
  • Exception Dashboard and Editor—A browser-based tool that displays a dashboard of summary statistics and charts to help you understand the kinds of exceptions that occur in your data. It is also an editor that allows you to modify exception records and approve them for reprocessing.
  • Manage Exceptions—A browser-based tool that enables you to review and manage exception record activity for all users.
  • Data Quality Performance—A browser-based tool that provides information on trends within your exception records and enables you to identify key performance indicators and send notifications when certain conditions are met.
  • An exception records repository. Records in the repository are available for review by a data steward. Three stages identify exception records, write exception records to the repository from a dataflow, and read exception records from the repository to a dataflow. These stages are documented for use in both Spectrum Enterprise Designer and Spectrum Flow Designer.
