Configuring Google Maps

Spectrum Spatial Analyst provides the option to enable Google Maps content using a Google API Key and a Google Client ID. The administrator (admin) provides the Spectrum Spatial Analyst user with the API key or Client ID to add Google base map layers to Spectrum Spatial Analyst.

If the user is not authenticated (guest access is enabled, and the user has not signed into Spectrum Spatial Analyst):

  • If an API key is available, it will be used for loading Google Maps
  • Otherwise, if a client ID is available, it will be used for loading Google Maps,
  • Otherwise, no Google Maps support will be loaded.

If the user is authenticated (the user has signed into Spectrum Spatial Analyst):

  • If a Client ID is available, it will be used for loading Google Maps,
  • Otherwise, if an API key is available, it will be used for loading Google Maps,
  • Otherwise, no Google Maps support will be loaded.

If guest access is used internally within an organization, then customers should still obtain premium plan licensing. Spectrum Spatial Analyst must be available freely and publicly to comply with Google’s standard licensing terms.
