Eircode for Ireland (IE)
Effective in July 2015, Ireland has started a new postal code system, Eircode. An Eircode is a unique code designed to accurately identify the location of an address, and is assigned to each residential and business address. Existing postal addresses have been assigned Eircodes.
An Eircode is a seven character alpha-numeric code made up of two parts: routing key and unique identifier. For example, an Eircode "A65F4E2" consists of the routing key "A65" and the unique identifier "F4E2." A routing key consists of three characters and defines a principal post town span of delivery. A unique identifier is unique to an address and distinguishes one address from another.
| Note: | Refer to the official website of Irish Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources (www.eircode.ie) for details on the Eircode system. |
