Working with Thematic Map

This chapter provides help on creating thematic map in Spectrum Spatial Analyst application.

Spectrum Spatial Analyst allows you to apply themes on maps. Thematic mapping allows you to analyze your data and display it in a variety of ways on a map.

A map that contains one or more Thematic Layers is termed a thematic map. A Layer on the map that has had its visual style altered to represent data associated with that map layer. For example, a Layer might contain suburb boundaries and have associated information about the total population of each suburb. A Thematic can be applied to this Layer so that each suburb is displayed in a different color depending on how large the population of the suburb is?

Note: The Thematic Map feature is available on the basis of settings done by administrator in Spatial Manager.

Support for zoom visibility constraint on thematic and query maps

The thematic and query maps support zoom visibility constraint. For example, when a Spectrum Spatial Analyst user creates a thematic or query map on a layer where zoom layering has been set by the admin, Spectrum Spatial Analyst application obeys the Zoom Layering settings. The same settings are applied on the thematic or query map also. As a result, when you zoom in/zoom out of the defined level, the thematic layer will not be visible on the map, and the legend control panel will show the "Layer not visible at this zoom level" message.
