Global Delivery Indicator

The Global Delivery Indicator (GDI) is a software feature designed to identify whether an address is deliverable and/or mailable. This feature is essential for ensuring that addresses are validated for delivery purposes, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of mail and package delivery services.

Following are the different codes for the GDI:

Address is Locatable and Mailable

2 Address is Locatable, but not Mailable (an address that does not receive mail)
4 Address is Mailable, but not Locatable. This could also be military bases or PO Boxes.
5 New Construction/Not Yet Built (known address that is platted, but not built or amid construction). It is Locatable, but net yet Mailable.

Address is Vacant – Locatable & Empty (empty plot of land)

7 Historical Address (known as “gone-away” address)

Address is not Locatable, nor Mailable
