Working with protected sheets

When worksheets contain protected cells, different actions require different settings.

In Excel, click the Review tab, click Protect Sheet, and then select the check boxes for the options that are required for the action that you want.

Actions

Required options

Post, Park, Save as Completed, Attach Documents

  • Select locked cells
  • Select unlocked cells
  • Format cells
  • Insert hyperlinks

Validate, Simulate, Publish

  • Select locked cells
  • Select unlocked cells
  • Format cells

List of Values, Clear Data

  • Select locked cells
  • Select unlocked cells

Known issues

Excel worksheets that contain protected cells have the following limitations:

  • The Document Split feature is not supported for cell-based or column-based templates.
  • The Clear All command is not supported.
  • The Clear Data command might not remove line-item data.
  • If the Simulate Log header is protected, no simulation logs will be written.
