Install the SAP GUI

Before you can use Studio to record and run scripts, you need to install the SAP GUI. To install it, work with your system administrator or IT department.

Studio with Evolve - SAP logon (credentials logon)

To log on to SAP:

  1. Open the SAP logon screen and select one of the SAP systems (configured as Evolve) available in the list under User Credentials.

    The same SAP server can be configured multiple times with different connection names from the Evolve site (as well as from Studio Options>SAP Server if you have administrator rights). SAP connection for following logon type support Japanese characters in SAP user name and password

    • Credential based App Server

    • Credential based Message Server

  2. Click OK. Tip: To save your credentials for future sessions, check Save as auto logon credentials. The next time you log on to SAP from Studio, you will see your Auto Logon name in the SAP System box. All you have to do is click the Log on to SAP button.  Auto logon credentials (ALC) saved for Evolve mode are only able to be used in Evolve mode, and not in Connect mode.

Siteminder logon

To logon using Siteminder: 

  1. Define the SSO from within Evolve.
  2. Go to the Studio SAP Shuttle Logon page.
  3. Click Enterprise Portal.
  4. Select the radio button for Siteminder.
  5. Enter the details and check Save as auto logon credentials.
  6. Click OK.

The SAP .ini file / SAPUILandscape.xml

Connecting to SAP is easier if you have saplogon.ini installed on your local computer.

To point SAP to the .ini file:

  1. Click the File tab.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Click SAP Settings.
  4. Click the Browse button next to the SAPlogon.ini file / SAPUILandscape.xml location box, browse to the ini folder, and click OK twice.

    If you do not know where to find the ini folder, start SAP GUI Logon, click Options (the icon in the upper-left corner), click SAP Logon Options, click Configuration Files or Local Configuration Files, and use the path that is listed for Connection.

If you log on without the .ini installed, click Advanced SAP Logon on the Studio logon screen, click Add System, and then type the system details.

Further information: To save your credentials for future sessions, check the Save as Auto logon credentials box. The next time you log on to SAP from Studio, you will see your Auto Logon name in the SAP System box and your other credentials. All you have to do is click the Log on to SAP button.
