Observe Data Assets

Observing your data assets allows you to take actions based on the alerts received. Alerts are provided after successful scheduled runs. The trends generated provide alerts about data anomalies. You can observe data assets only once and cannot use them again for another observer. Before you create an observer, identify your data source and set up a data connection. Scheduling is mandatory for creating an observer.

To perform end-to-end data observation:

  1. Before you create an observer, you need to set up a data connection. To create a data connection, refer to Create a Snowflake Data Connection. You can choose to set up a data connection from available types. Refer to Types of Data Connections.
Create an Observer
Tip:
  • You can use the connection that you created or use a connection from the list of existing data connections that are already set up.
  • During observer creation, you can select observer rules. For observer rules details, refer to Observer Rules.
  1. After setting up a data connection, you are ready to create an observer. To create an observer, refer to Create an Observer.
View Alerts
Tip: You will receive alerts based on the selected observer rules. The alerts are in the form of Warning Alerts or Critical Alerts.
  1. In the secondary menu, click the Alerts icon to navigate to the Alerts page.
    • The red () alerts are critical alerts
    • The yellow () alerts are warning alerts
  2. Optional: Take the required action on the alerts to resolve the issues.
