The editing experience
There are a number of ways in which a communication can be edited through the Edit Communications page:
- Using the Cross-Browser editing functionality that supports most mainstream browsers, such as Chrome, Firefox and Edge. In this mode editing is done by selecting options from available prompts, then previewing what the final document will look like. Refer to Cross-browser interactive data field editing for detailed information on using this form of editing.
- Using an embedded, EngageOne Compose ActiveX editor, a fully featured interactive editor which provides an accurate view of the final printed document. You can make changes to your communication in real-time without the need to open a separate preview of your document. This mode requires the installation of an ActiveX component, which can be installed on demand, but is limited to the use of Internet Explorer. Refer to Using the Editor for detailed information on using this form of editing.
- Using the EngageOne Compose Interactive Editor, a desktop program that is installed on your computer. This provides all of the features of the embedded editor above but with the flexibility of browser choice provided by the Cross-Browser option. Refer to Using the Editor for detailed information on using this form of editing.
It is important to note that Pre 6.6.11 versions of the editor are not supported. You are advised to uninstall any earlier editor version before performing any installation activity.
The type of editing experience you see will depend on your organization's specific policies and is configured by your system administrator.
Refer to the EngageOne Server Installation guide for information on the deploy.properties settings required for the different types of editing experiences.
