Client cache management

The Interactive Editors ActiveX and Desktop app client cache in EngageOne™ Interactive is independent of document server cache management.

The EngageOne™ Interactive Editors ActiveX and Desktop app uses a caching mechanism to effectively manage resources in publications and documents. While caching resources when previewing a publication in EngageOne™ Designer is straightforward and does not result in a huge performance benefit, it assumes significance when the Interactive Editor(s) are used in EngageOne™ Interactive.
Note: The following cache instructions are for "Internet Options" cache accessible via Windows Control Panel,or, via Microsoft Edge browser Internet explorer compatibility IE Mode settings, and relevant to both Editors.

Interactive Editor cache options via Edge browser or Windows Control Panel:

  1. In the Microsoft Edge browser, select the "..." icon to invoke menu and select the Settings option.
  2. Select Default browser -> Internet Explorer compatibility -> Internet Options.
  3. Alternatively select Windows Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Internet Options.
  4. On the General tab, click Delete in the Browsing history section. A new window opens showing the Delete Browsing History settings.
  5. Click the Delete files option. Check the Preserve Favorites website data and Temporary Internet files boxes, and then click Delete.

Warning

Internet Options, available from Control Panel or Microsoft Edge browser, manages the cache entries for both Interactive Editors, and manual deletion of any cache entries may lead to unexpected results.

This is usually due to missing references within the Edge browser, where the Interactive Editor(s) attempt to use a cache file that has been deleted manually.

This option is not recommended.

If performed accidentally, follow up with an Internet Explorer clear cache action as explained previously.
