Tutorial 3—Step 12: Add custom controls to InfoPath

In this exercise you will add Winshuttle Designer custom controls to an InfoPath form. (These controls will then be configured in the next exercise.)

Adding Controls to InfoPath 2003 or 2007

  1. Start Microsoft Office InfoPath, and then go to Design View.
  2. Click the Controls link.
  3. At the bottom of the control panel, click Add or Remove Custom Controls.
  4. Click Add to start theAdd Custom Controls Wizard.
  5. Select the ActiveX Control option. (If you are using InfoPath 2003, you will not see this option; continue to the next step).
  6. Click Next. A list of available ActiveX controls appears.
  7. Select the first Winshuttle Designer custom control you want to add.

    NOTE: Do not copy and paste custom controls in InfoPath.

  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Next on each of the following pages to select the default settings.
  10. When the last page of settings appears, click Finish.
  11. Repeat steps 4–10 to add as many Winshuttle custom controls as you want.
  12. Custom controls must be added one-by-one. When you have added all the custom controls you want, they will appear in the Add or Remove Custom Controls dialog box.
  13. Click OK.

  1. Start Microsoft InfoPath Designer 2010/2013
  2. Double-click the Blank InfoPath Filler Form option.
  3. On the ribbon, in the controls section, click the More button.
  4. Click Add or Remove Custom Controls.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click ActiveX Control.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select the first Winshuttle custom control you want to add.

    NOTE: Do not copy and paste custom controls in InfoPath.

  9. Click Next four times.
  10. Click Finish.
  11. Dismiss the warning dialog.
  12. Click Close.
  13. Click OK or repeat steps 5–12 to add as many Winshuttle custom controls as you want.

    NOTE: The default Compatibility Mode in InfoPath 2010 is for Web Form, which causes the Winshuttle Designer controls to be hidden. To change the Compatibility Mode, click the File tab, click the Form Options button, click Compatibility, then change the Form Type to InfoPath 2007 Filler Form.
