Repairing an LMS installation

Run the LMS Installer and choose the Repair option to repair a broken or corrupted installation.

  1. On the machine where you are repairing the installation, run the LMS installer with Administrator level permissions.
  2. Select Repair and then click Next.
  3. When prompted, click Yes to overwrite all LMS related configuration files.
  4. Click Finish.

The Repair option overwrites or recreates all the missing files and folders in the LMS installation directory. Note that it does not recreate any directories if they were deleted from IIS and does not repair any data tables.

Upgrading an LMS installation

The following instructions apply to LMS version 11.x and later.

  1. On the machine you are upgrading, right-click the install program, and then select Run as Administrator.
  2. Click Yes.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click Finish.

After the upgrade

The following steps apply only if have upgraded to Winshuttle LMS 11.3 or later.

After the upgrade is complete you will need to provide permissions to the user for the three places in which the LMS Background service is running.

  1. Local SQL Server : Give the user DB_Owner permission for LMS Licensing Database to the account\user under which winshuttle LMS background service is running.
  2. Remote SQL Server: Provide DB_Owner permission on LMS Licensing Database to the account/user under which winshuttle LMS background service is running. If the SQL Server is in a remote location, then provide the permission to the user as shown). We add the user for remote SQL server as DomainName\AppNetServer$ (For eg:- The user we gave permission is WSE\CHA-EN-VSTMJ1$ as shown in the screenshot)
  3. Where LMS and Gibraltar are installed: Give Full Control Permission on Following Path to the account/user under which Winshuttle LMS Background Service is running
  • Path where LMS is installed. The default: C:\Program Files\Winshuttle\LMS\Services
  • Path where Gibraltar is installed. The default is C:\ProgramData\Gibraltar
